That evening, the family organised a sangeet program. Sangeet doesn't happen in Marathi weddings and is a staple for north Indian weddings. But Bollywood overdose had spilled into everything and now Sangeet was part of all weddings across India. Sangeet isn't a formal ceremony. It is nothing but a family get together where everyone sings, dances, drinks and has a good time. It's like a party before the wedding.
Sangeet started at nightfall. The courtyard of the house was decorated with ornamental lights, there was loud music playing, and everyone, especially the ladies, was singing and dancing. Baba had arranged drinks for the evening and after a few drinks, even the men joined the ladies. Everyone danced, sang and had a gala time as the night progressed and drinks flowed.
